HISTORY

In 1987, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded 26 cities with funding to place an integrated primary and mental health care center on school campuses. In Louisiana, two cities were on that list: Baton Rouge (2 sites) and New Orleans (1 site).

The idea was simple: bring providers where children spend the majority of their time… school! We now know that when health and education unite, the full potential of our children is realized: attendance improves, conditions like asthma are managed, behavioral health concerns receive quick, expert attention… And so much more.
